Hole in One Egg Toast Recipe | Mini Pinoy Grill

Start your day with this quick and easy Hole in One egg toast. A perfectly cooked egg sits in the centre of crispy golden toast, finished with a spicy kick from Putang Ina Hot Sauce. It is a fast, satisfying breakfast that is simple to make and packed with flavour.

Ingredients

  • 1 slice of bread, white, wholemeal, or your choice
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon Putang Ina Hot Sauce, or to taste
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

What you will need

  • Non-stick frying pan
  • Round cookie cutter or the rim of a small glass
  • Spatula

Cooking Instructions

1. Prepare the bread
Use a round cookie cutter or the rim of a small glass to cut a hole in the centre of the bread slice. Set the cut-out piece aside.

2. Heat the pan
Place a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and butter, allowing them to melt together.

3. Toast the bread
Place the bread slice in the pan and cook for about 1 minute. Flip and lightly toast the other side. Add the cut-out bread piece to the pan and toast it as well.

4. Cook the egg
Crack the egg directly into the hole in the bread. Season with salt and pepper. Cook for 2 to 3 minutes, or until the egg white is set and the yolk is still runny. Flip carefully if you prefer a firmer yolk.

5. Add the hot sauce
Transfer the toast to a plate and drizzle generously with Putang Ina Hot Sauce.

6. Serve and enjoy
Serve immediately with the toasted bread circle on the side for dipping.

Tip:
Serve with crispy bacon or avocado slices for an easy breakfast upgrade.
