Elevate your breakfast game with the “Hole in One”—a sunny-side-up egg nestled in perfectly toasted bread, made even better with a hint of Putang Ina - Hot sauce. A fast and satisfying way to start the day!
Ingredients
- 1 slice of bread (white, wholemeal, or your choice)
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 teaspoon olive oil
-
1 tablespoon Putang Ina Hot Sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
What you will need
- Non-stick frying pan
-
Round cookie cutter or the rim of a small glass
- Spatula
Cooking Instructions
1
Prepare the Bread: Use the cookie cutter or glass to cut a hole in the centre of the bread slice. Set the cut-out circle aside.
2
Heat the Pan: Place a non-stick frying pan over medium heat. Add the olive oil and butter, letting them melt and combine evenly.
3
Toast the Bread: Place the bread slice in the pan. Let it toast for about 1 minute, then flip it over to toast the other side. Toast the cut-out circle as well for a crispy side piece.
4
Cook the Egg: Crack the egg directly into the hole in the bread. Sprinkle with salt and pepper to taste. Cook for 2–3 minutes, or until the egg whites are set but the yolk remains runny. Flip gently if you prefer a firmer yolk.
5
Top it Off: Once the egg is cooked to your liking, transfer the bread to a plate. Drizzle generously with Putang Ina Hot Sauce for a bold, spicy kick.
6
Serve and Enjoy: Serve immediately with the toasted bread circle on the side for dipping.
Tip: Pair with a side of crispy bacon or avocado slices for a complete breakfast. The olive oil adds a subtle richness and ensures the bread toasts evenly.
